If you love the warm, airy sweetness of Baccarat Rouge 540 but don't love the price, Odem may be exactly what you're looking for. It has the same kind of attention-grabbing presence, sweet, woody and softly amber, while still having a character of its own.
Customers kept asking us for a fragrance with this warm, sweet, amber-wood character. That description points to one famous perfume. At $360 for 70ml on the official site, it's not an everyday purchase for many fragrance lovers. After twenty years of working with fine fragrance, we felt this scent deserved a version people could actually wear every day. That's Odem.
How Odem wears on skin
On our skin, Odem opens with warm saffron and a bright thread of jasmine. The first twenty minutes are the loudest it gets, with moderate projection, enough for someone next to you to notice, not the whole room.
After about an hour it settles into its best phase: a soft amber-wood warmth over a cedar base, sitting close to the skin. This is the "you just smell like that" stage, and it's where Odem lives for most of its wear. It usually stays with us for most of the day, between six and eight hours on skin depending on your skin type, before fading to a soft skin scent. On a scarf or collar it often greets you the next morning.
It wears best in the evening and in cooler months, when the sweetness deepens. A date, dinner, an event where you want to be remembered. In summer or at the office, one light spray is plenty.
How close is it to the original?
Close, but not identical, and we think that's worth saying plainly. The original has a sharper, almost metallic edge in its opening and an airier feel overall. Odem leans a touch warmer and rounder, with the amber showing earlier. Think siblings rather than twins: if you wear them side by side you'll notice the difference, but the character, the sweetness and the trail people ask about are very much there.

One scent, seven ways to wear it
